Sugaring is an all-natural form of hair removal that utilizes a sugar paste comprised of sugar, water, and lemon. This paste is expertly molded into the desired hair and efficiently removed, leaving you with silky, soft, and hairless skin. Sugaring is a gentle but effective hair-removal modality that is less painful, and more sustainable, than traditional waxing.

Sugar is warmed to around the same temperature as the body - There is no risk of being burned during your sugaring session.
Sugar only adheres to hair and dead skin cells, whereas wax adheres to dead skin cells and live skin cells. There is never a risk of live skin being ripped off by sugar.
Sugar seeps deep into the hair follicle to wrap around the root of the hair - this creates a less painful removal process than waxing. Wax attaches only to the hair on the outside of the hair follicle.
Sugaring is far more sustainable and has less environmental impact than waxing - Sugaring uses a paste made of natural (and edible) ingredients: sugar, lemon, and water. The paste I use is also organic! Generally only 1 or 2 balls of sugar are needed during an appointment, and since it’s applied by hand, there is no need for wooden applicator sticks, cloth strips, or plastic wax!
It is easy to sugar larger areas of the body during a shorter amount of time than it would take to wax the same areas - This keeps your appointments quick, easy, and comfortable!

Exfoliate/moisturize 2 days prior, come wearing comfortable and non-restrictive clothing, and go ahead and pass on the caffeine day-of if you can! Since caffeine is a stimulant, it can increase the blood flow to the skin and cause hair-removal to be more painful. This is not necessary by any means, but just something to think about! Please ensure that you have at least 2 weeks of hair growth in the area that you are getting sugared by the time of your scheduled appointment.

Yes! Nympha is a safe space for your body no matter where you’re at in your cycle. Getting sugared on your period may be a little bit more painful than usual due to heightened sensitivity during your bleed, but you are more than welcome to schedule an appointment anyways! I am more than happy to work around a tampon string, and I always have backups on hand just in case. You’re safe here! :)

THINGS TO AVOID FOR 24 HRS:
Exercise, sweating, excess heat (saunas/steam rooms/hot tubs), swimming, and sex post-intimate sugaring
Lotions containing strong fragrances or chemicals on freshly sugared skin
Exfoliating
Touching the area unnecessarily
THE ‘YES-PLEASE’ LIST:
DO exfoliate and moisturize 2 days after your appointment, and 3-4 times a week thereafter! Exfoliating and moisturizing will not only help prevent ingrown hairs, but also make your next sugaring session less-painful and overall a more comfortable experience!
DO schedule your next appointment before the 5 week mark so that you have a more comfortable experience, stay smooth, and save money! (keeping up with regular appointments every 4-6 weeks will also help you work towards permanent hair-reduction!)

EXFOLIATE + MOISTURIZE! I simply cannot say it enough. Hairs are way more likely to get trapped underneath the skin when there are excess dead skin cells present. Moisturizing helps keep the hair follicles lubricated and the skin around them healthy. Fun fact: sugar only adheres to hair and dead skin cells, so if there are excess dead skin cells present, it can make your appointment more painful (and take longer to complete).
HOW TO EXFOLIATE: My favorite method of exfoliation is with a damp washcloth and sea salt. When I’m in the shower, I will sprinkle some sea salt on my damp washcloth and gently scrub my body. For larger areas of the body, I also like to use a dry brush as well.
For MOISTURIZING I like to use an oil that has ingrown-hair treatment properties such as Bushbalm’s ingrown hair oil. Lotion works as well, but make sure it doesn’t have any strong fragrances or chemicals!

When driving down Fourth Ave, you will see a building labeled ‘Fourth Avenue Healing Center’ on your left. This is the entrance you should use! You will find Suite 100 directly to your right once you’ve entered the lobby. Go on in and hang out in the waiting room, and I will come out to greet you when it’s time for your appointment! Both the front door, and Suite 100 have a coded keypad - you will find the both codes in your pre-appointment text. If you get lost or have any questions, don’t hesitate to shoot me a text or give me a call!

Parking in Bankers Hill can be a little hairy (pun intended) so give yourself a little extra time to find a spot before your appointment! It usually isn’t too tough to snag a spot, but be prepared for metered/paid street parking since there isn’t a parking lot dedicated to the building.
